Roma police are continuing to take a strong stance against the operation of non-compliant e-bikes, e-scooters and e-motorbikes as part of a three-month targeted operation across the state.
Around 4.35am on 5 November, officers observed a man riding an e-scooter without a helmet along McDowall Street.
It is then alleged the man attempted to evade police by hiding under a vehicle in a car yard.
When officers searched the man, they allegedly located a knife attached to the e-scooter.
A 24-year-old Roma man was charged with possession of a knife in a public place and issued with a $166 fine for personal mobility device rider fail to wear helmet.
He has been remanded in custody to appear in the Roma Magistrates Court on 26 November.
Following further investigations, the man was also charged with an additional seven offences in relation to alleged motor vehicle, property, forgery and drug offences.

On 3 November, QPS launched Operation X-Ray Surety, a statewide campaign running until 26 January 2026, focusing on addressing unsafe behaviours, particularly during the busy school holiday period.
Each District is implementing its own localised strategies tailored to their communities, ensuring effective education, engagement and enforcement to protect all road users, and E-Mobility device users.
The Queensland Police Service will be adopting the engage, educate and enforcement approach during this targeted operation.
Riders and parents are being put on notice that non-compliant use will result in fines, charges, and in some cases the non-compliant e-mobility devices being seized.
