Opportunist thief uses stolen bank card in CBD supermarket

Melbourne East police are investigating after a stolen bank card was used to purchase items from a Melbourne CBD supermarket on 28 January.

It is believed an unknown man entered the Elizabeth Street supermarket sometime between 5.25pm and 5.31pm.

Once inside the supermarket the man has used a stolen bank card to purchase several items.

It is believed the man stole the bank card after a male victim dropped his wallet on Elizabeth Street just prior to the incident.

Police have released an image of a man they believe could assist them with their enquiries.

He is perceived to have dark skin, aged between 30-40 years with a goatee.

He was wearing a brown hoodie, dark tracksuit pants with white stripes down the legs, thongs and a dark coloured cap.
