Opportunity to comment on draft propositions

The Royal Commission into National Natural Disaster Arrangements has commenced the final stages of its inquiry. Following publication of Interim Observations earlier this week, a series of draft propositions is now available.

The draft propositions were developed by Counsel Assisting, informed by the range of information provided to the Royal Commission to date through submissions, responses to compulsory notices and Issues Papers, and evidence presented during public hearings. The draft propositions do not necessarily represent the views of the Commissioners.

The draft propositions relate to most, but not all, of the issues that have been explored to date and which may inform the Royal Commission's findings and recommendations.

The Royal Commission expects to consider a number of these draft propositions during Hearing Block 4, scheduled for the week commencing 21 September 2020.

The draft propositions are published on the Royal Commission's website.

The Royal Commission welcomes responses from individuals and organisations with expertise and interests relevant to the inquiry.

The Royal Commission will receive responses to the draft propositions until 5pm (AEST), Wednesday, 16 September 2020. Responses must be provided using the response template available on the website, or through the Royal Commission's Public Information Line.

Public information line: 1800 909 826

The information line operates from 9:00am-5:00pm (AEST) Monday-Friday except public holidays.
