ORI Shuts Down Amid Industry Crisis, 30 November 2023

Tas Labor

The massive levels of uncertainty within the Tasmanian harness racing industry have continued today, with the Office of Racing Integrity announcing it will be closed between 10am and 2.30pm today.

One can only assume it is so the office can digest the findings of the Murrihy Report, which continues to linger over the industry like a dark cloud every day it hasn't been released in full.

We've now reached another week where it's unclear whether the state's largest harness racing stable will be allowed to participate in weekend racing.

Following the shocking revelations surrounding workers' compensation and participant safety uncovered in last week's GBE hearings, this simply isn't good enough.

Minister Ellis needs to put a stop to this mess and release the Murrihy Report in full before tomorrow's harness meet at Elwick.
