Revision of Bilateral Police and Customs Co-operation Agreement Between North Macedonia and Albania

The OSCE Mission to Skopje, in close co-operation with the OSCE Presence in Albania, facilitated a high-level meeting in Skopje aimed at better protection of the borders between the two countries.

Ambassador Kilian Wahl, Head of the OSCE Mission to Skopje, underlined the importance of cross-border collaboration. "This meeting is about making life safer for people on both sides of the border. By improving communication, speed, and co-operation between police and customs, we make sure that crime is tackled more effectively and communities are better protected.", said Ambassador Kilian Wahl.

Minister of Internal Affairs of North Macedonia, Panche Toshkovski emphasized the joint commitment. "This agreement strengthens trust and operational co-ordination between our countries, ensuring that our officers have the tools and support to respond quickly and efficiently to security challenges."

Minister of Internal Affairs of Albania, Albana Kochiu, added that "Modern, secure, and practical co-operation at our borders benefits not only the authorities but also the citizens who rely on us for safety and protection every day."

The OSCE reaffirmed its readiness to continue supporting both countries in improving border protection.
