OSCE Gifts IT Gear to Tajikistan's Gender Police Units

OSCE

On 12 March 2026, the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe (POiD) donated a set of IT equipment to the Gender Sensitive Police Units under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan.

The donated technical equipment will support the Government of Tajikistan in its efforts to prevent and combat domestic violence in the country. In particular, it will strengthen the work of the 20 functioning Gender Sensitive Police Units (GSPUs), 14 of which have been established with the support of the POiD. This support will help the units identify domestic violence cases in a timely manner, provide effective protection to survivors, and refer them to appropriate support services.

Additionally, the donated IT equipment will contribute to more efficient case registration and initiation of legal proceedings, as well as the secure maintenance of statistics for reporting and evidence-based policy development.

Female police officers, who primarily staff the GSPUs, help ensure that victims' cases are handled appropriately and that their needs are prioritized.

The event forms part of the POiD's ongoing support to law enforcement authorities in Tajikistan in responding to domestic violence through a survivor-centred approach. It also contributes to Tajikistan's commitments within the OSCE framework to prevent and combat violence against women, including domestic violence.
