From 6 to 17 April 2026, the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe organized a comprehensive two-week training course on border patrol and surveillance techniques for Heads of border outposts. Held at the Tajikistan Border Troops (TBT) Training Centre "Poytakht", the programme brought together 20 TBT officers stationed at various border outposts.
Led by an international expert and local trainers, the course enhanced participants' skills in core border management areas, such as operational planning, patrolling, and risk assessment. The curriculum also integrated gender mainstreaming in border security and the application of modern surveillance equipment. Through a blend of theoretical and practical sessions, officers practiced the strategic deployment of personnel and resources while learning to forecast emerging security threats.
Additionally, the training addressed modern border protection techniques, strategic decision-making for outpost operations, and the integration of gender perspectives in security frameworks. By equipping officers with these essential skills, the program bolstered Tajikistan's border security response and directly supported the implementation of the National Border Management Strategy.
This initiative is part of the OSCE's multi-year effort to enhance Tajikistan's border security and improve its capacity to address both current and future security challenges along its border with Afghanistan.
