OSCE: Violence, Threats Endanger Bosnia's Safety

OSCE

The OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina (Mission) unequivocally condemns all forms of violence, including death threats directed at Jelena Trivić, president of Narodni front, over her statement regarding recent events in Široki Brijeg. Such threats are unacceptable in any democratic society. They not only undermine the fundamental right to freedom of expression and political participation; they exacerbate fear and mistrust among and between communities and they undermine the sense of security that all citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina deserve.

The Mission calls on the relevant authorities to act swiftly in order to conduct thorough, and impartial investigations and bring those responsible to justice. Citizens and elected officials should all be able to work and live in an environment free from intimidation and violence.
