Out Of This World: ArtWalk Lights Up For Ninth Year

Port Macquarie-Hastings

Port Macquarie's premier cultural event has finally arrived, with just over 24 hours until the ninth annual ArtWalk takes centre stage in Port Macquarie.

ArtWalk: Out of This World will transform the heart of Port Macquarie into a vibrant canvas of live performances, interactive installations and inspiring works of art, with inviting locals and visitors invited to attend the event which kicks off from 5pm, Friday 4 July. This year, Artwalk is proudly supported by Optus.

Group Manager Liveable Communities, Lucilla Marshall, said the event was a testament to the unique spirit of the region and the deep connection between people, place and creativity.

"ArtWalk is a celebration of our people, our stories and our shared sense of place," Ms Marshall said.

"Whether you're attending for the first time or have joined us for all nine years, ArtWalk is about connection, joy and inspiration. It's a moment where we pause to appreciate the rich creative talent in our community and the stories that shape who we are."

A standout feature in 2025 is the newly revitalised Phillips Lane, activated as a dedicated Youth Precinct with bold lighting, local art and interactive installations.

Delivered through NSW Government funding under the Permit, Plug & Play Grant, the project has helped transform a once-ordinary laneway into a dynamic destination.

"Phillips Lane is a major feature of this year's event, offering people a place to come together, feel proud, and experience creativity in an energetic and engaging way," she said.

"It's a brilliant example of how public spaces can be reimagined through community collaboration."

ArtWalk was rescheduled from the June long weekend due out of respect to those who were impacted by the severe weather, which also impacted organising efforts.

Ms Marshall said the revised event would present an opportunity to recognise the combat agencies and volunteers who supported the region during the flooding event and subsequent recovery efforts.

"The resilience of our community will be on full display tonight, and I encourage our community to get behind the event's postponement by turning up to support those who were impacted in the May floods."

She extended a huge thank you to the many local businesses, artists, Council staff and volunteers who have remained committed to ensuring this year's rescheduled event continued as unaffected as possible.
