Overdue walker on Snowy Range – update, TAS

An overdue 56 year old Judbury man who was bushwalking in the area of Lake Skinner and the Snowy Range has camped overnight with crew personnel from the Westpac Rescue Helicopter and a paramedic, Tasmania Police say.

The man and crew were met by a Search and Rescue land based party this morning, which have walked through snow and ice to the Lake Skinner area.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter  has picked the overdue man up and is about to return him to family members at Lonnavale.

Senior Constable Callum Herbert said that the man was in a good condition, although it had been cold and wet overnight.

"The man had told his wife to contact police if he was overdue, plus he activated his personal EPIRB, so he was well prepared," Senior Constable Herbert said.
