Oxfam Australia is appalled and deeply saddened by the horrific events in Bondi yesterday.
Our thoughts are with everyone affected in the Bondi community - a place usually defined by joy, peace and connection - and especially with members of the Australian Jewish community who were targeted while gathering at the start of Hanukkah. We extend our heartfelt solidarity to the Jewish community, and to all those shaken by this senseless attack.
This act of violence is a painful reminder that peace and safety cannot be taken for granted. There is no place for hatred, racism, antisemitism or violence in our communities.
Oxfam stands for dignity, safety and justice for all people. We join with communities across Australia in condemning this attack and in reaffirming our commitment to compassion, solidarity and care for one another during this deeply distressing time.
