P-plate driver detected at 209km/h at Raymond Terrace, NSW

A P-plate driver has been charged after being detected allegedly driving at more than 200km/h on the Pacific Highway at Raymond Terrace yesterday, NSW Police say.

Police from Port Stephens/Hunter Highway Patrol were conducting speed enforcement duties about 10.30am (Friday 16 February 2018), when they saw a utility travelling south, allegedly at high speed.

Police will allege a LIDAR check revealed the vehicle was being driven at 209km/h through in the signposted 110km/h zone.

The driver – an 18-year-old man – was stopped a short time later and arrested.

He was taken to Raymond Terrace Police Station where he was charged with

  • Drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous
  • P2 driver exceed speed by more than 45km/h
  • Not display P plates.

The man, from Raymond Terrace, was also alleged to have breached his bail conditions and was refused bail.

He appeared in Raymond Terrace Local Court yesterday, where he was granted conditional bail to re-appear at Raymond Terrace Local Court on Wednesday 18 April 2018.

His licence was suspended on the spot.
