P-plater clocked doing 197km/h in Berwick

A P-plater and his mates will be left walking for the next month after the 18-year-old driver was allegedly detected doing 197km/h in Berwick early this morning, Victoria Police say.

Cardinia Highway Patrol members were patrolling along Clyde Road when they came across a car travelling at more than double the 80km/h speed limit shortly before 1.30am.

The car stopped at a red light at the intersection of Greaves Road and was pulled over by police.

Four teenagers, aged between 16-18, were located inside the car at the time.

The Narre Warren South driver is expected to be charged on summons with speeding offences, overloaded vehicle and not displaying P-plates.

His car has also been impounded for 30 days.
