P-Plater motorcyclist caught doing 150km/h in 80km/h zone

A 27-year-old Legana man has had his motorcycle confiscated and will face court, after being caught speeding in Spreyton on Sunday.

The Honda motorcycle was seen travelling at excessive speed, before being recorded at 150km/h in an 80km/h zone.

Police intercepted the motorcycle using the new Stinger highway patrol vehicle, and found the man was a P1 licence holder with an 80km/h speed restriction.

"With the rate of fatalities on Tasmanian roads currently three times higher than this time last year, police are again calling on road users to stop this dangerous behaviour," said Inspector Gary Williams.

"We know that speeding kills, and it's this sort of disregard for the road rules that puts lives on the line."

"Slow down and help us keep everyone safe."

"Remember that driving even a few kms over the speed limit is over. Over is Over."
