P1 driver fined for speeding 58km/h over legal limit

A teenager has been fined $2520 and lost six demerit points after allegedly being caught speeding in the Royal National Park.

About 5pm yesterday (Wednesday 3 February 2021), a black Ford Focus was travelling along Sir Bertram Stevens Drive, Royal National Park, allegedly travelling up to 138km/h in a sign-posted 80km/hr zone.

Officers attached to Traffic Response Group stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver – a 18-year-old P1 provisional licence holder.

He was issued with a six-month mandatory driver's licence suspension notice and a traffic infringement notice for P1 driver exceed speed more than 45km/hr.
