PAD dogs lead the way at music festival

Police have made a number of arrests in relation to alleged drug offences during last night’s Jumanji music festival, Victoria Police say.

The hip hop music event saw 17 people arrested as part of Operation Omni, a Passive Alert Detection (PAD dog) operation targeting illicit substances.

Drugs allegedly seized during the operation included quantities of ecstasy, cocaine, cannabis and MDMA.

Of those arrested, eight people were referred to a drug diversion program, four were cautioned and two were charged.

Those charged included:

-A 19-year-old Craigieburn man, who was charged with multiple offences including traffic drug of dependence, possess drug, possess cannabis, possess proceeds of crime, handle stolen goods and resist police.

-A 27-year-old Bairnsdale man was arrested and charged with possess drug of dependence and resist police.

Two police officers sustained minor injuries during the arrests and did not require treatment.
