Port Phillip Crime Investigation Unit Detectives have charged two men following an alleged carjacking in Middle Park last week, Victoria Police say.
It is believed two men approached the victim while he was sitting in his car on Harold Street on Friday 18 November about 6am.
The pair attended in a black jeep with allegedly stolen number plates.
One of the men got out of the jeep and started rummaging through a tool box in the back of the victim’s car.
The victim confronted the men and they have driven off in the jeep.
Investigators have been told the two men returned a short time later allegedly armed with a metal pole.
They have demanded the victim hand over his keys and get out of the car.
The pair have then fled in the victim’s car and the Jeep.
Investigators arrested a man and a woman in the Werribee area after the victim’s stolen car was sighted on Saturday 19 November.
As a result of this arrest, police attended a house on Hook Street and arrested a second man believed to be involved in the incident.
A search warrant was also executed at a property on Surrey Grove, Point Cook where police seized four other allegedly stolen cars, a motorcycle and several golf sets which are believed to have been stolen from a car in Elwood in September.
A 25-year-old Point Cook man and 39-year-old Altona Meadows man have been charged with armed robbery, theft of motor vehicle and other theft-related offences.
The pair have been remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 24 November.
A 26-year-old woman was interviewed and is expected to be charged on summons in relation to theft of motor vehicle offences.
