The Queensland labour force added more than 200 jobs every day in September 2019, according to data released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics today.
Deputy Premier and Treasurer Jackie Trad said that the massive increase in job creation meant that 226,800 jobs have been created under the Palaszczuk Government since January 2015.
"Today's jobs figures show that the Palaszczuk Government's economic plan is working. We have now created nearly eight times as many jobs as the previous LNP Government.
"In other words, it would have taken the LNP more than two decades to create as many jobs as the Palaszczuk Government has created in fewer than five years."
ABS data show that Queensland added 6,600 jobs in September – the second largest increase in jobs among all states and territories in Australia.
"The massive increase in jobs under the Palaszczuk Government means that more Queenslanders have entered the labour force. Queensland's labour force participation rate is now 66.3 per cent, the second-highest rate in the nation and the highest in Queensland since 2012," said Ms Trad.
"Today's figures are an endorsement of our plan for Queensland jobs, including our $885 million payroll tax cut in the 2019-20 Budget.
"As Campbell Newman's protégé, Deb Frecklington backed the LNP's agenda to cut, sack and sell. The LNP sacked 14,000 Queenslanders, including nurses, doctors and teacher aides right across regional Queensland.
"By contrast, the Palaszczuk Government is on the side of all Queenslanders. We are backing Queensland jobs."
