Palaszczuk Government to hold further discussions with racing industry

Racing Minister Stirling Hinchliffe has vowed to continue working with racing participants to build a strong and prosperous future for the industry.

Mr Hinchliffe said the government had worked on developing avenues to support increased prize money in order to avoid "strike action" at Queensland’s TAB race meetings this Saturday.

"Unfortunately we haven’t been able to avert Saturday’s planned action, but that doesn’t mean we’re not working closely with industry," he said.

"My door is always open and in coming days I’ll be having further discussions with industry participants on a way forward.

"Queensland’s racing industry employs or engages more than 41,800 people, and we want to see it thrive and prosper."
