Palmer Bookmaking Pty Ltd, trading as Palmerbet, has entered into a court-enforceable undertaking after an ACMA investigation found the company breached online gambling self-exclusion rules.
The investigation found Palmerbet failed to close the account of an individual who had registered with BetStop - the National Self-Exclusion Register.
BetStop records show the individual registered with BetStop in September 2023. However, Palmerbet failed to close the individual's account until February 2025.
Palmerbet also accepted 312 bets from the self-excluded individual between December 2024 and February 2025.
Under the self-exclusion rules, once an individual registers with BetStop, wagering providers must close that person's account as soon as practicable and must not provide them with any online wagering services.
The ACMA has accepted an 18-month court-enforceable undertaking from Palmerbet committing the company to a comprehensive independent review of its compliance systems and processes and to make the investment required to implement recommended improvements. Palmerbet also repaid all deposits made by the individual after they registered on Betstop until February 2025.
If Palmerbet breaches its undertaking, the ACMA can take it to the Federal Court to enforce its terms.
