Parliamentary Friends of Multicultural Communities set to bring people together

Madeleine Ogilvie,Liberal Member for Clark

I am pleased that a new Parliamentary Friends of Multicultural Communities is being formed that will bring people together from across our rich multicultural communities to celebrate diversity and discuss issues of importance to our multicultural Communities.

I am delighted to have Dr Zelinda Sherlock, Dattaraj Mahambrey and John Kamara assisting with the establishment.

Recent events from across the world have shown the importance of standing together against racism and division, and instead celebrating the things that unite us as a community.

The heartbreaking and devastating scenes seen recently in Afghanistan rightly shocked the world, and we share the sorrow and loss felt by many in our community who have family and friends impacted.

The establishment of this group is another way we can work with leaders in our multicultural communities and identify any further needs for support or assistance.

Tasmania has always welcomed new arrivals to our shores and we have seen the great benefit this has brought to our community, and this confirms our commitment to listen and do what we can to help those in our community that need it.
