Parramatta Creek Incident – 27th February 2017, TAS

Two men aged 27 and 26 have been arrested and charged following the incident at Parramatta Creek yesterday, Tasmania Police say.

The investigation into this matter, continued throughout the night resulting in one offender being arrested at his residence late last night.  The second offender contacted police at about 8am this morning and he was presented to the Devonport Police station at about 10am.

Police do not believe that any further offenders were involved in the altercation yesterday.

The two men will be placed before the Magistrates Court later today where police will be opposing bail on both men.

There are multiple joint charges against both men, namely numerous firearm offences including aggravated armed robbery and aggravated assault. One of the men will also face dangerous driving charges.

Police will allege the two offenders attended an associates’ address yesterday, where they threatened him with a firearm and fired a numbers of shots during the altercation.

Names will not be released until the men have appeared in court.

Police would like to thank the public for their cooperation throughout the incident.
