Passenger Airlifted After Waikerie Crash

A woman was airlifted to Adelaide following a serious crash in the Riverland overnight.

Emergency services responded to reports of a single vehicle crash on the Sturt Highway at Waikerie just before 1.30am on Saturday 27 December.

The Mercedes Benz van left the road and crashed into a guard rail.

The passenger, a 40-year-old Salisbury Downs woman, sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Adelaide. Her injuries are not considered life-threatening.

The driver, a 30-year-old Salisbury Downs man, also sustained minor injuries and was taken to the local hospital for treatment.

The van has been towed from the scene and the highway reopened to all traffic.

Investigations into the crash are ongoing.
