Passenger dies in single vehicle crash in Northern Beaches

A woman has died after the vehicle she was travelling in lost control and crashed into a tree on the Northern Beaches overnight, NSW Police say.

Shortly after 1am tomorrow, a black Honda was travelling west on Mona Vale Road, near Forest Way, Belrose, when it crossed eastbound lanes and crashed into a tree.

A 25-year-old female passenger suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.

Another female who was also seated in the rear of the car suffered serious injuries and was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital in a serious condition.

A male passenger who was seated in the front of the vehicle along with the male driver were both taken to Mona Vale Hospital for minor injuries.

The driver will also undergo mandatory blood and urine testing.

A crime scene has been established at the crash site while officers from the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit conduct further inquiries.

Mona Vale Road remains closed in both directions while crash investigators conduct their inquiries.

Local diversions are in place.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
