Passenger dies weeks after Lucas Heights crash, NSW

A woman has died several weeks after being critically injured in a crash at Lucas Heights, NSW Police say.

The 63-year-old woman was a front-seat passenger in a Nissan Navara utility which was involved in a crash with a red Holden Commodore sedan on New Illawarra Road, Lucas Heights, about 5pm Sunday 15 October 2017.

The driver of the utility, a 55-year-old man, was also critically injured; they were both taken to Liverpool Hospital suffering multiple injuries.

The driver of the sedan, an 18-year-old man from Engadine, was taken to St George Hospital with chest injuries.

Officers from Sutherland Local Area Command and the Crash Investigation Unit (CIU) attended the scene and initiated an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

CIU officers have now been advised the Sutherland woman had died in hospital last week.

A report is being prepared for the information of the Coroner.

Inquiries into the cause of the crash are on-going, and CIU officers are keen to speak with anyone with information.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
