Payroll tax cuts - a boost to Victorian regional businesses

Victorian Regional businesses have been handed a massive boost to their businesses from the Andrews Government in the 2018 State Budget. Jos de Bruin, CEO of MGA Independent Retailers said today that the cut in payroll taxes from 3.65% to 2.45%, as from 1 July 2018, will be the lowest payroll tax rate in Australia.

Mr. de Bruin said, "Our members welcome this reduction in payroll tax. It gives small businesses in Victorian country regions the opportunity to employ more staff and expand their businesses. There have been other payroll tax reductions in recent times that have resulted in benefits to country regions, but this further reduction is an additional bonus."

"Small businesses in country Victoria are encouraged by the Andrews Government initiative. This further reduction in payroll tax is a recognition of the enthusiasm and hard work that is engendered by Victorian country business people. Regional Victorian businesses will undoubtedly be motivated further and encouraged by these timely reductions to burdensome costings"

Mr de Bruin concluded, "We applaud the Victorian Government for this significant gain for country businesses in this state. " ---
