Pedestrian critical, driver sought after hit and run at Lake Illawarra

A pedestrian has been critically injured and police are searching for a driver following a hit and run in the Lake Illawarra region last night.

Just after 10pm (Saturday 19 September 2020), a 24-year-old man was walking west on Lake Avenue, near Bethlehem Street, Cringila, when he was struck by a vehicle.

The man was treated at the scene by paramedics for a broken leg and head injuries before being airlifted to St George Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

The driver allegedly failed to stop.

Officers from the Crash Investigation Unit attended and commenced an investigation.

Investigators are following several lines of inquiry to identify and locate the driver and vehicle which is described as a white Suzuki sedan or hatchback.
