Pedestrian hit by train at Elizabeth, SA

Police are at the scene of a serious crash at Elizabeth, where a train has collided with a pedestrian, according to SA Police.

About 6.45am on Thursday, 2 August police and emergency services were called to Mountbatten Square at Elizabeth Railway Station after reports that a person had been hit by a train.

The train driver and passengers were not injured, but the driver is being treated for shock.

Major Crash and Public Transport Safety Branch officers are heading to the scene to assist the investigation.

There are traffic restrictions at the scene, and please avoid the area if possible.

Trains have been stopped in the area, and further information will be provided to commuters when it is available.

Trains are not running between Gawler and Salisbury. Adelaide to Salisbury and Gawler to Gawler Central trains are unaffected. Substitute buses are being arranged, please catch regular bus services if possible.
