Pedestrians struck in CBD collision

Police are investigating after a collision in the CBD this afternoon, Victoria Police say.

At this stage it is believed a vehicle travelling along Latrobe Street has struck a share car travelling on Latrobe Street waiting to turn on William street about 3.45pm.

The share car, carrying two passengers, has subsequently lost control and struck a number of pedestrians on the street corner and hit a number of cars that were stationary at the traffic lights.

Five pedestrians were taken to hospital, one adult with serious but non-life threatening injuries, two adults with minor injuries and two children taken for observations only.

The exact cause of the collision is being investigated and the drivers of both vehicles are assisting police with their enquiries.
