One of Australia's best live music acts will be performing in Colac later this month at a pop-up entertainment session in Memorial Square.

The free live music featuring the Pierce Brothers is an opportunity for visitors and locals to enjoy a summer's night in the public space during one of Colac's busiest weekends when the town hosts a major regional basketball tournament.

Melbourne folk rockers Jack and Pat Pierce, better known as Pierce Brothers, have been carving out their own path in the indie-folk scene for years.

What started as busking sessions on Bourke Street Mall in Melbourne has grown into a massive international career, with the two now known for their incredible live shows and affecting songwriting.

With multiple Top 10 ARIA albums, and over 30 million streams to date, the past few years have been huge. After wrapping up a sold-out run of shows around Australia in 2025, the brothers have just announced a massive return to the UK and Europe in 2026, and more in AUS to come.

Pierce Brothers haven't taken their foot off the gas for years, and there's no sign of slowing down!

Council is encouraging locals and visitors to enjoy the free event, relax on the lawn and enjoy some great entertainment.

Council's Manager of Economy and Creative Industries Heidi Taylor said this was a new concept that supported local traders and provided a family friendly activation in the centre of town.

"The Pierce Brothers put on an incredible show - the ideal reason to grab your mates, support a local trader and settle in on the grass. It's an early finish too, so there's still plenty of time to head to enjoy one of Colac's pubs or dining spots afterwards," Ms Taylor said.

"We're working with the Colac Chamber of Commerce, Mixx FM and the Colac Herald to help traders make the most of the extra visitors in town. We'd love to see businesses stay open a little later to catch the crowd, and we think this relaxed session will be great for our food and beverage operators.," she said.

"It's free, family‑friendly, and a great chance to just hang out, support our local traders, listen to some fantastic live music and enjoy Memorial Square at its best."

The entertainment is from 5-7pm on Saturday, 28 February 2026.
