Pillion passenger dies after single-vehicle crash near Narromine

A teenage girl, who was a pillion passenger on a motorcycle, has died following a single-vehicle crash in the state's west overnight.

About 2.30am today (Monday 4 October 2021), emergency services were called to Cornucopia Road, Narromine, following reports a motorcycle had left the road and hit a tree.

The pillion passenger – a 17-year-old girl – died at the scene.

The driver – a 17-year-old boy – sustained serious leg and pelvis injuries.

He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics, before being transported to Dubbo Base Hospital, where he will also undergo mandatory testing.

Officers from Orana Mid Western Police District, with assistance from the Crash Investigation Unit, established a crime scene and commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

As investigations continue, police are urging anyone with information, or dashcam footage, to come forward.

A report will now be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
