The following data updates were published in Place and ethnic group summaries on 17 July 2025.
Place summaries
- Estimated resident population revised for 30 June 2019-2024 to incorporate 2023-base estimates
- Estimated resident population is now shown in quick stats and on the Place and ethnic group summaries homepage instead of the 2023 Census usually resident population count
- Births and deaths data added for the year ended March 2025
- Building consents data added for year ended March 2025.
Ethnic group summaries
- Estimated resident population added for June 2023 (level 1 ethnic groups only)
- Births and deaths data added for the year ended March 2025 (level 1 ethnic groups only)
- Work and labour force data from the Household Labour Force Survey added for the year ended March 2025, and revision of some data from previous years (level 1 and selected level 2 ethnic groups only)
- Life satisfaction data added for the year ended June 2024, and revision of some data from previous years (level 1 ethnic groups only)
- Child poverty data added for the year ended June 2024, and revision of some data from previous years (level 1 ethnic groups only).
Next update
The next data update for Place and ethnic group summaries is expected around November 2025. This is likely to include:
