Place your bins out night before

MidCoast Council

From next Monday 16 August, MidCoast Council is asking residents to place their bins out on the kerb the night before their collection day to support COVID safe practices.

"Our regular kerbside bin collections are continuing as normal however trucks will starting their runs at varied times from next week," explained MidCoast Council's General Manager, Adrian Panuccio.

"This staggered approach helps to provide separation of workers at the depot, rather than everyone coming in at once.

"It's a small change but it makes a big difference in ensuring the safety of all workers in these uncertain times."

Meanwhile Council has begun reopening a number of facilities in the southern part of the region following closures prompted by the lockdown of Hunter local government areas last week.

Tea Gardens Library has opened back up to the community as of today, with Stroud customer service point and library to reopen on Monday 16 August.

The Tea Gardens customer service point is expected to reopen next Friday 20 August.

"We'd like to thank these communities that have had their services impacted, for their understanding and patience," Mr Panuccio said.

"We'll continue to monitor the situation, heed advice from health professionals and the State Government and if it means closing a facility then that's just what we have to do."

Newcastle and surrounding Local Government areas that remain in lockdown include Newcastle City, Lake Macquarie, Maitland, Port Stephens, Singleton, Dungog, Muswellbrook and Cessnock.

Council will be updating its website and Facebook page with any closures or changes to the public health order that impact the community.
