Police appeal after 16-year-old boy threatened with knife in Newcastle

Police are appealing for public assistance following an armed robbery in Newcastle last night, NSW Police say.

About 11.40pm yesterday (Friday 6 April 2018), a 16-year-old boy visited a convenience store on Darby Street before being robbed a short distance away on Bull Street, Cooks Hill.

Police were told the boy was approached by a man who threatened him with a knife.

The man then stole the boy’s personal belongings before fleeing the scene toward Railway Street, Cooks Hill.

Officers from Newcastle City Police District attended the scene and launched an investigation into the incident.

The man is described as being of Caucasian appearance in his early 20’s. He is approximately 180-185cm tall with a slim build, dark hair and a goatee.

The man was wearing a hooded-jumper, black pants, cap and carrying an Adidas bag.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is urged to come forward.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
