Police appeal after armed robbery in Kiama

Police are appealing for information following an armed robbery in the NSW Illawarra region yesterday, NSW Police say.

About 1.50pm yesterday, a 46-year-old woman was at the counter of a business on Collins Lane, Kiama, when an unknown male entered.

Police have been told the youth, armed with a weapon, not further described, threatened the woman and demanded money.

She complied and he left with cash.

The woman was not injured.

Officers from Lake Illawarra Local Area Command were notified and commenced an investigation.

As part of their inquiries, police would like to speak to a youth who may be able to assist them.

He is described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, aged in his late teens, about 170cm-175cm tall, with dark brown hair. At the time he was seen wearing a dark jumper and dark pants.

Anyone with information is urged to come forward.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stopers.
