Police appeal after indecent assault in Chatswood

Police are appealing for witnesses after an indecent assault on Sydney’s Lower North Shore last weekend, NSW Police say.

About 2.30am on Sunday 1 January 2017, a 26-year-old woman was walking on Baldry Street, Chatswood, when she was approached by a man wearing no clothes.

Police have been told she ran away and the man followed, before he indecently assaulted her.

The woman screamed and the man ran away towards Victoria Avenue.

She was not injured.

Officers from North Shore Local Area Command were notified on Monday (2 January 2017) and commenced an investigation.

After reviewing CCTV, police are now appealing for public assistance to help identify a man who they believe may be able to assist with their inquiries.

The man is described as being of Asian appearance, aged 20 to 25, about 175-180cm tall, and of slim build. He was last seen wearing a blue baseball cap, black framed glasses and no clothing.

Anyone with information about the man or who was in the area at the time and noticed anything suspicious is urged to come forward.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
