Police appeal after newsagency robbery in Cessnock

Police are appealing for information following an armed robbery at Cessnock yesterday, NSW Police say.

Just after 2.30pm today, a 27-year-old man was working at a newsagency on Wollombi Road.

A man armed with a knife and his face covered, entered the store and demanded cash.

The worker complied with the demand before the man left the store.

Officers from Central Hunter Local Area Command attended a short time later and established a crime scene.

Following investigations, police would like to speak to a man they believe may be able to assist with their inquiries.

He was described wearing a balaclava, a hooded light grey jacket with a dark stripe down the arms, black gloves, dark-coloured long pants and dark shoes with white socks.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Cessnock Police or Crime Stoppers.
