Police appeal after service station robbed in Windale

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding an armed robbery at Windale this morning, NSW Police say.

About 3.15am (Thursday 26 July 2018), two men approached a 24-hour service station on Lake Street.

They approached the locked front doors and began to smash the glass with an axe.

The 22-year-old console operator locked himself in a store room when the men broke through the doors.

The men went to the console area and stole the till, cigarettes and food before leaving the store.

Police from Lake Macquarie Police District attended and established a crime scene which was forensically examined.

Investigators are appealing for anyone with information about the men to contact Lake Macquarie police or Crime Stoppers.
