Police appeal after woman stabbed multiple times in Toongabbie

Police are appealing for information after a woman was stabbed in Sydney's west this morning.

Police have been told just after 12am today (Wednesday 23 January 2019), a 19-year-old woman was walking along Cornelia Road, Toongabbie, when an unknown female approached her and requested to use her mobile phone.

The female demanded she hand over the rest of her belongings, and when the 19-year-old refused, the pair became involved in a physical altercation.

The 19-year-old received multiple stab wounds to her stomach, back, and arms, before the other female fled the scene on foot.

The injured woman was able to walk back to her home, where she contacted emergency services.

She was taken to Westmead Hospital where she remains in a serious but stable condition awaiting surgery.

Officers from Blacktown Police Area Command are appealing for information to locate a female described as being of Pacific Islander/Maori or Asian appearance, aged in her mid-teens, with black hair parted down the middle, last seen wearing dark-coloured clothing.
