Police appeal for dash cam footage after Monash Freeway collision

Casey Highway Patrol officers are appealing for witnesses and dash cam footage following a five-vehicle collision in Doveton on Tuesday (4 June).

It is believed a black Ford hatchback was travelling inbound along the South Gippsland Freeway at the entry ramp to the Monash Freeway when it collided with the front of a truck in the adjoining lane.

The truck then pulled over, resulting in the Ford continuing out of control across four lanes of the Monash Freeway and crashing into the centre concrete barrier.

As a result of the collision with the barrier, a further vehicle collided with the Ford, while two other vehicles collided with each other trying to avoid the first collision.

The female driver of the Ford was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

No one else was injured in the incident.

Investigators are appealing for anyone with information, who witnessed the collision or who may have dash cam footage to contact crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
