Police appeal for information over stabbing Southport

Gold Coast detectives are making a public appeal today for any information about the stabbing and robbery of a 23-year-old man at Southport in December last year, Queensland Police say.

As part of their appeal police will set up a mannequin dressed in similar clothing as the offender and a mobile police facility at the location of where the stabbing occurred for any information about the crime.

Around 10.10pm on December 8, 2016 a man was sitting with a 21-year-old woman in parklands off Marine Parade when they were approached by an unknown man.

The man demanded money from the 23-year-old man and when he refused he was assaulted. The man eventually handed over his wallet to the offender.

The offender fled the scene in a southerly direction towards the Sundale Bridge.

The 23-year-old man sustained a number of stab wounds to the torso.

He was transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious condition and has since had to undergo a number of surgeries due to his injuries.

The offender is believed to be is approximately 175cm -185cm tall with a slim build. He was wearing orange shorts, a black hooded jacket and white, red and black joggers.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or any suspicious activity in the area around the time of the incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
