Police appeal for public help: Fatal crash at Mareeba

Police are renewing an appeal for witnesses following a fatal traffic crash in Mareeba last Friday (January 27).

Initial investigations indicate shortly before 5.00pm, a dual cab utility and a motorcycle collided on the Kennedy Highway.

The motorcycle rider, a 61-year-old Atherton woman, sustained critical injuries and died at the scene.

A number of people stopped and rendered assistance to the woman before emergency services arrived.

Police are specifically hoping to a speak to two women and a man who left the scene shortly after the arrival of emergency services.

Investigators are appealing to those witnesses to contact police. Anyone with dashcam vision of either vehicle prior to the incident is also urged to come forward.

Forensic Crash Unit investigations are continuing.
