Police appeal for witnesses following a near miss at a breath test site in Wodonga

Police are appealing for witnesses after a police member was almost hit by a car in Wodonga early this morning, Victoria Police say.

Members were conducting a breath test site on Lincoln Causeway just after midnight when a car with allegedly stolen number plates came across the bridge.

The driver has continued toward the police vehicle and veered toward a Senior Constable who had to move out of its path to avoid being struck.

The car has then turned around and driven off at speed.

Police attempted to intercept the vehicle but it took off and was last seen travelling along High Street Wodonga.

Police are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or may have seen the vehicle in the area.

The vehicle is described as a small white hatch with Victorian registration RIJ709.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
