Police are appealing for witnesses following an alleged assault in the Melbourne CBD last month, Victoria Police say.
It is believed the alleged assault occurred on a tram travelling north along Spencer Street towards Southern Cross Railway Station on Wednesday 5 October about 10.40pm.
The victim, a 54-year-old man, received serious injuries and was taken to hospital by ambulance.
A 45-year-old South Melbourne man has been charged with intentionally cause injury, recklessly cause injury and assault with a weapon.
He has been summonsed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 30 January 2017.
