Police appeal for witnesses to incident in Melbourne CBD

Police are appealing for witnesses following a short pursuit in Melbourne’s CBD this morning (30 August), Victoria Police say.

Police were called to the intersection of Flinders and Russell streets just after 6am in response to a driver asleep at the wheel.

Police attempted to intercept the vehicle which failed to pull over and a pursuit was initiated.

The maroon Toyota sedan reversed into a bus before colliding with a police divisional van at the intersection of Victoria Street and Rathdowne Street.

No police officers or passengers on the bus were injured.

The vehicle has since been located however police are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the man asleep in the vehicle prior to the incident.

Anyone with information or dash-cam footage is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
