Police appeal to locate driver after man hit by car in Belmore

Police are appealing for public assistance after a man was hit by a car in Belmore, NSW Police say.

The 77-year-old was struck by a vehicle while crossing Burwood Road about 5am today (Thursday 19 July 2018).

Emergency services were alerted and he was taken to St George Hospital with serious injuries.

The vehicle failed to stop after hitting the man.

Officers from Campsie Police Area Command attended and commenced inquiries.

It’s believed the man was hit by a utility, possibly a Toyota Hilux, that was travelling north towards Lakemba Street.

An investigation is underway and police are appealing for public assistance to locate the vehicle involved or anyone who may have witnessed the incident.

Anyone with information is urged to come forward.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
