Police appeal to locate missing man at Wollongong

Police are appealing for information from the public to locate a man missing from the state's South Coast.

Durward Backhouse-Smith, aged 32, was last seen about 6.35pm last Friday (3 September 2021) leaving a premise in Smith Street at Wollongong.

About 6.40pm yesterday (Monday 6 September 2021), police were notified and officers from Wollongong Police District commenced an investigation into his whereabouts.

Police and family hold concerns for Durward's welfare.

Durward is described as being of Pacific Islander appearance, about 190cm tall, of a solid build, with shoulder length black hair and dreadlocks.

He was last seen wearing a dark-coloured hooded jacket, a black face mask, dark coloured pants with a high visibility stripe at the bottom. Durward was carrying a backpack at the time.

Anyone who sees Durward or who has information about his whereabouts, is urged to call Wollongong Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
