Police are responding to fatal crash at Hay

A man has died following a crash in the state's south-west.

Earlier today (Friday 28 June 2019) emergency services were called to the Sturt Highway near Hay after a truck and utility vehicle collided.

The truck was engulfed in flames after dangerous goods in the truck caught alight.

Officers from Murrumbidgee Police District, Fire and Rescue NSW and NSW Ambulance paramedics attended.

The driver and sole occupant of the utility, a 26-year-old man, was unable to be revived.

The driver of the truck, a 60-year-old man, sustained minor injuries.

An investigation has commenced into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
