Police are responding to fatal crash - Central Australia

Northern Territory Police and the Fire and Rescue Service have responded to a single vehicle fatal crash on the Stuart Highway in Central Australia in which one person has died.

About 6pm on Friday 2 April, police received a report of a crash approximately 60 kilometres north of Alice Springs.

The vehicle left the road, hit a tree and caught fire. Enquiries to confirm the identity of the deceased are ongoing.

Detectives from Southern Major Crash Investigation Unit are investigating the circumstances of the crash. A report will be prepared for the coroner.
