The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating following a serious two-vehicle traffic crash in Mount Pleasant this morning, 15 November.
Shortly after 1am, a Mitsubishi Lancer sedan was travelling southbound on Bruce Highway when it collided with a semi-trailer turning onto Sams Road.
As a result of the crash an 18-year-old Mount Pleasant man sustained critical injuries and was declared deceased at the scene.
An 18-year-old Blacks Beach man was transported to Mackay Base Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Both injured parties were from the Mitsubishi Lancer.
The truck driver was not injured.
Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or who have relevant dashcam vision, to come forward.
The investigation is ongoing.
